Dear Students,

Welcome to week 5 of the semester and now having committed to your subjects this is where the 5P's prior preparation prevents poor performance starts to come into play, please see some general updates below.

QILT survey - Last Day August  31st.

This is the last week of the QILT SES (Quality Indicators Teaching and Learning Student Experience Survey). This is an independent survey about your teaching and learning experience at the College and is conducted by QILT. You will have received a survey link and we encourage you to give feedback as this will allow the College to benchmark against other higher education institutes and allow us to work out and focus on areas for continuous process improvement.

Tech Tools:

Take the time to explore and set up some of the below tools that can help you, these tools will often allow you to streamline study processes, referencing and support time management as one place to go to for support tools, work smarter and not harder in the wonderful world of tech.

GoConqr - offers resources to create revision charts, mind maps, flashcards, notes and quizzes, as well as the ability to connect and collaborate with study buddies and classmates. A complete learning toolkit for FREE at goconqr

Mendeley - if you have started the second semester then it is time to start to learn about Mendeley, a software program that will help you manage your references. Book in a tutorial with the Library team at the College and they will be glad to guide you on the 'How to" use this great tool for FREE, Mendeley

Learning style Assessment - know your learning style and then tailor your study methods around this to tap into your preferred learning style. 

There are a number of support tools in place for learning support that you can use at the college and please be certain to put these into good use as these will aid to support study planning and ensure you are getting any support needed in real-time, see some considerations below.

  • Book tutorials with the local Academic team, take in a list of your questions and let them tutor you on the topics that are challenging
    • LMS/ learning resources/ Campus/Academic consultation
  • Book a meeting with the local Student Services team to discuss any changes in circumstances and the support you need

  • the Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a support line that you can contact in confidence at any time, all caller identification is de-identified and the service is provided for free for a series of calls.  The contact number is through Access SAP( website link) and the contact number is 1800 33 62 07.(24/7). Think of this as your own personal coach in times of stress as you discuss support tools and strategies to put into place based on the circumstances at hand.
