Dear Students,

As we continue our preparations to support the health and safety of all students at the college and transition to a fully online model for the next six weeks, we thank you for your continued patience as we work through the large volume of enquires received at this time. As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve we would like to reassure you that we have teams across the college committed to seeking solutions to support your continued study across all theory and live-streamed classes and are working on the timetable options for future intensive practical and clinical classes.

Please see a summary below to address FAQ’s at this time:

All theory classes for all students are now available online or will be live streaming and this will continue for all of S1|20.
  • the links to the live-streaming classes are posted on the LMS - go to the subject > go to connections > go to subject news > go to the latest announcements forum
  • the recordings for these live classes will be loaded after the completion of the class on the LMS >subject > go to the week > recordings will be uploaded within a 24-36 hour period.
  • attendance waivers have been put in place across all non-clinical attendance subjects and students are not required to provide medical certificates or documentation for attendance waivers.

Practical and clinical classes intensive sessions – we have a large volume of enquires of what an intensive session may look like and we respect and understand that this will support planning your studies in the future.
  • to manage your expectations around this we have a dedicated project team that is currently working on modelling across all clinics and practicals with the core goal to ensure that we build in flexibility to support future practical and clinical sessions for all students.
  • to support your planning of how this may look some key considerations in the planning stages are:
    • aiming to limit practical and clinical sessions to two to three days per week and these sessions maybe scheduled in existing time slots where theory classes were scheduled as all theory classes remain online for S1|20.
    • for clinics and practical classes we are looking at completing the intensive sessions across a 4 – 6 – 8  week period, these timelines are flexible and can be extended based on point in time circumstances.
    • absolute flexibility with make-up clinics dates and special consideration for these to be extended to the end of S1|20 and we are dedicated to working with students on a case by case basis to support extensions across S2|20 as required.
    • we are committed to supporting your completion of these classes and consideration for the extension of timelines including the possibility of running these sessions across the semester break period to support the completion of these subjects.
    • we are modelling what this will look like across all degrees and thank you for your continued patience as this is reviewed over the coming days.
Clinic Make-ups.
  • clinic make-ups will still be required and the college has put in place flexible dates for these and are willing to work with students to accommodate this on a case by case basis.
  • in all cases we will aim to ensure that we are able to support students to complete their make-up sessions and course for this semester.
Examinations:

  • all planned on-campus examinations for this period will be deferred and the examinations coordinator will be in contact with each student to confirm the process and manage expectations around the re-scheduling of these examinations.
Student Assistance Program (SAP):
  • this is a stressful time as what we have known is now the unknown. It is very important that you take the time you need to also take care of yourself at this time, the SAP is available 24/7 free of charge by calling 1800 336 207 and available for confidential counselling, please do reach out to this team if they can be of any support in helping support you and your family at this time.
